Anime North 2005

May 30th, 2005 admin 15 comments

Pheww.. Naruto North 2005.. Err.. Anime North 2005 is finally over.. 3 days of torture of watching 100 Narutos, 50 Sasukes, 200 ANBU members, etc.. ;) Due to the selection of guests lots of people also dressed up as Inu Yasha characters..

And now it’s time for the Anime North 2005 pictures!!!

Note: once again we have a proof that I suck big time at taking pictures.. ;p

Normally I’d spend most of my time in the dealers or art areas.. But this year I’ve decided to check out more pannels than in the past.

Friday lineups for the tickets were pretty crazy.

On the contest stage at the TCC there were some people doing ParaPara:

In the gaming part they had DDR Extreme machine and In The Groove game on the big screen (sponsored by Red Octane).

The dealers room was full but not packed.

Some pannels I went to:

Yaoi pannel:

The scarry part is.. I probably knew more about yaoi than most of the people in the audience.. The girls who were running it were pretty knowledgeable about all the boy-on-boy stuff.. ;)

Anime Improv:

Pretty funny stuff..

Dubs vs Subs in 10 rounds:

With the guest appearance from Carl Macek.

Q&A with Sanada Asami:

What’s up with me taking like every picture when she had her eyes closed?!?!?! ;)

Mystery Otaku Dating Game:

It was probably the funniest pannel I’ve seen.

FullMetal Fantasy by Vic Mignogna

Highly recomended for any con goer. Kind of got into trouble while taking this pix.. I took it right at the same time they were talking about no recording of the screening.. I got ‘.. and no flash photography either’ ;)

Create Your Own Anime

Do you recognize the guy from somewhere else? ;)

Guest Slam 3 – Dobsons Gone Wild (Paul Dobson, Michael Dobson, Brian Dobson)

Most of the talk came from Paul and Michael..

Guest Slam 4 – Veterans (Michael Dobson, Scott McNeil, Cathy Weseluck, Carl Macek, and the others)

Scott and Cathy = r0×0rZ.. Scott was just eating his hotdog for like half of the meeting..

Authographs.. Before the con all I wanted was to get Pauls and Scotts signatures.. But after meeting Susan they kind of got pushed a little bit down on my ‘to meet again’ list.. ;)

Line-ups for Paul Dobson, Scott McNeil, Susan Aceron, Cathy Weseluck, Vic Mignogna and Sam Vincent

Scott McNeil in action

Hi Vic.. ;)

Paul ‘The Matrix’ Dobson with my ReBoot DVD and The Matrix action figure

Susan Aceron after I showed up in her line for the second time (tee-hee) ;)

In the end I didn’t get Scott’s signature.. :( I know, I know.. He’s a friendly guy and shit.. But 5 min per person if they are a female is bit too much when there is like 300 people in the line.. Oh, well.. I only wanted my ReBoot DVD signed.. :( Maybe next time (?).. ;)

Group of Naruto cosplayers has organized a little show of their own where they posed to some of the scenes from the show:

Here are some of the other costumes

Hello! Morning #260 2005-05-22 ‘5th Anniversary Special Part 2′

May 26th, 2005 admin 2 comments

Baaaah.. Once again I got like 500 captures (from original 800+).. It’s gonna be a tough one to pick all the good ones again.. ;) Btw. you can see all of them if you just browse to the original location of the pictures.. Same thing applies to the previous H!M posts.. There is way more pictures than what I used.

The episode begins with some ‘miracle’ girl stuff..
Some shots from her introduction at Rika’s graduation concert:

And then they showed some training footage:

They even showed the part where she gets screamed at by the voice coach:

Gotta love her WTF?!?! expression after that:

And we’re back with the girls in Okinawa:

Rika, Hitomi and Ai T. go to see a dancing old lady:

Then she surprises them with dancing with a bottle on her head..

The girls try it too with pretty bad results:

Next they’re off to make their own kankarasanshin:

Then they go outside to jam a little bit when they get joined with the other half of the Okinawa group:

Neoki Dokkiri!!! Yoshizawa and Ogawa.. Victim: Sayumi!!

Neoki Dokkiri! Niigaki and Fujimoto.. Victim: Tanaka!

Then the Hokkaido group get to make the glasses they’ve designed in the last week episode:

Meanwhile.. Tsuji and Kago go and get some expensive food:

Later they’re joined by the rest of the girls. Risa wanted to take a picture but she ran out of film!

The W duo didn’t really wanted to share their food but one ‘look’ from Miki changed their minds:

Risa gets ‘the look’ too for being too friendly with Miki’s face:

And then eat..

Later they go and help with releasing small salmon to the river. Tsuji show us once again how well she can read from the cue cards:

It seems like Eri is afraid of small fishies!!

Tsuji seems to be thirsty here:

(just remember, the fish is still there) ;)

And the fishies are gone..

Eric Kamezou No Maidoari. Host: Nakazawa Guests: v-yu-den.. and the bunny?

And then it’s time to strike a sexy pose:

And a small ‘explanation’ behind the name v-yu-den:

Music irasshai!

And what’s that?!?!?! HA-PY?

Rika joins the rest of the group with Yuko:

Nest is the performance: Ajisai Eye Ai Monogatari by v-yu-den.

And the last part of the episode.
Neoki Dokkiri! Niigaki and Fujimoto.. Victim: KAMEI ERI!!!!!

Their plan gets foiled because it seems like Eri is up already!!

Since she’s up already they just decide to make fun of her:

What’s that?!?!!?

IT’S HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The end.. ?

Btw. I found a picture on 2ch about why Eri may have been up already.. Don’t click on the link unless you’re over 18.. ;)
DO NOT CLICK ;p

Only one dressed as Obi Wan.. Bunch of them were carrying lightsabers but that’s about it.. Bah.. I’ve lost all the faith in T.O. geeks.. ;p

Hello! Morning #259 2005-05-15 ‘5th Anniversary Special’

May 18th, 2005 admin Comments off

In this episode there are 2 teams in 2 parts of Japan.

In Okinawa:

In Hokkaido:

Let’s just say the temperature difference was enough to make some of the girls unhappy:

The girls in Hokkaido spend most of their time filling up their bowls at the fish market:

And then it’s chow time!

After filling up their bellies the girls will have to work it off somehow to keep their bodies in the top shape..

How about.. THIS:

Now let’s watch Reina’s blocking skills:

After that it was time to change places:

Then they’re up to the glass making shop where they design their own glasses..

Meanwhile in Okinawa: water bicycle race!!

And the prize.. Food!!!

After that they go to some place where they make some more food:

Konno meets her fans:

Then finally it’s time for the miracle member to appear:

And then Eric Kamezou No Maidoari with Elise Kameyam!!

New W??

And then it’s booty shakin’ time!!

What’s up with Eri and Para Para???

And then again some food..

W preforms their new song ‘Ai No Imiwo Oshiete’:

Canon PowerShot A80 vs Sony Cyber-shot DSC-U20

May 16th, 2005 admin Comments off

Almost 2 years ago I’ve got myself a Canon PowerShot A80 (a replacement for aging Minolta Maxxum 9 SLR).. At that time it was top of the line small Canon.. Yeh, they’ve had EOS or Rebel and other big cameras but I was interested in something I can stick in my backpack or jacket without worrying too much about it.. The biggest advantages of that camera over other models on the market back then were: CF memory and the ability to swivel the LCD.. So I got A80.. Now nearly 2 years later I got myself another toy: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-U20.

Little back story about this purchase. For a while I’ve been looking for some small and cheap camera I could just put in my pocket and have it handy at any time. Today at work I was talking about cameras with my friend and I’ve mentioned that I’m kind of looking for something really cheap and small. My sister is going away for a few weeks and she’s taking the A80 with her so I’ll end up without a camera. And he said: how about that Cyber-shot we have in the back? So I took a look at it and read up some reviews and specs and I’ve ended up picking it up. I also got 128MB memory stick cause the camera came with only 8MB stick. It’s kind of funny that I have a box full of CF, xD, MMC/SD cards but I’ve never had a single memory stick. ;)

Anyways.. I’m not planning to write a real review of those cameras.. There are 1000’s of them on the net already.. But.. Here are some shots to compare the ‘quality’ of those 2 cameras.. They were taken in a pretty dark room around 7pm. Nothing has been edited. Shots were taken at the highest setting. So they may be kind of big.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-U20:

Canon PowerShot A80:

I just got the U20 less than 6 hours ago.. So I’ll play some more with it.. And probably you’ll see more pictures taken with it in the future..

Why some people should never be let outside..

May 14th, 2005 admin Comments off

Yes.. ‘They’ are playing DDR..
And then people wonder why the pannels on the pads are broken.. There is a weight limit on those pads.. And from the look at those people they’re a little bit over that limit.. :(

Hello! Morning #258 2005-05-08 ‘Ishikawa Rika Special’ Part 3

May 11th, 2005 admin Comments off

So here you have it.. 3rd and last part of Ishikawa’s Graduation Special review.

Next is the flashback of Rika crying after losing a game..

And then Rika gets a chance to play the game again..

And then there is the feeding time! ;)

Final ‘The Peace’ live preformance:

Then Hitomi gives Rika a photo album with pictures from the past and notes from other girls..

Some clips from the graduation concert at Budokan:

Following that there was a preview for the next episode:

And look who’s finally gonna make an appearance?!?!

Well.. There you have it.. Pretty much play-by-play of the episode.. NEVER AGAIN.. Next week I’ll try to limit myself to maybe 20 caps.. ;p

I’ll upload some cute Eri moments to the Public Gallery after I finish getting the 4.5GB version..
